Accurate, finalized invoices are essential for maintaining smooth operations. Syncing incomplete invoices into FlexPoint can lead to confusion amongst your clients. To avoid this, it’s crucial to establish a workflow that ensures invoices only sync once they’ve been finalized.
Partners often create invoices in their PSA (i.e., Autotask, ConnectWise, etc.), which then sync into their accounting system. FlexPoint will then pull from the accounting system. Alternatively, you may generate your invoices in your accounting system, which then sync into FlexPoint based on your invoice import rule.
How to Avoid Syncing Non-Finalized Invoices into FlexPoint
To avoid syncing invoices into FlexPoint prematurely, we recommend making a few key adjustments:
-
Modify Invoice Import Rule - update/add an invoice import rule in FlexPoint to exclude invoices with a description of "Draft Invoice" from syncing.
-
Label Draft Invoices - add a line item to your invoice that contains the description "Draft Invoice". If you're generating invoices out of your PSA, you will need to make the addition in your PSA, prior to the invoice syncing to your accounting solution.
- Finalize for Sync - once an invoice is complete, remove the line item with the "Draft Invoice" description in your accounting solution. The invoice will then sync into FlexPoint automatically, as long as it meets your invoice import rule.
